You ARE a Powerful Woman!

‎"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity."

~ Margaret D. Nadauld

I love this quote my a former leader of the LDS women's organization "The Relief Society"

I love it because I firmly believe in women owning THEIR power, not trying to be strong by putting layers of toughness over the top of the power that is in their nurturing natures. As women, we have the power to be of great influence, and we lose it when we try to stand in a power that is not our own.

I have an agressive personality, and I have noticed that as I embrace the feminine, womanly qualities outlined in the Christian bible that strength has been refined. "A Woman After God's Own HEart" by Elizabeth George helped me a lot. It showed me where to find the scriptures that helped me understand who I really am. I believe that as we follow the principles and precepts of God we are not adding layers, but taking them off to reveal our divine truth.

I was a rambunctious child, and I admit that at times the correction did more harm than good, for at times (in the desparation that sometimes comes as we strive to teach our children) my mother was unkind in her voice and manner regarding my behavior. However, growing up with this ideal helped me to see past the false front of worldly feminine power, to nurture the Godly woman within, and truly know who I am.

We just finished reading "Little Women" as a family. Reading about the way the mother helps Joe to embrace her strengths and refine them is healing to me. As we love, accept and appreciate the boldness and courage of our daughters and ourselves we can help them and ourselves hone and direct all that passion and strength into trusting and serving God. Nurturing softness while acknowledging the value of boldness can help us teach them "boldness but not overbearance". This includes not overbearing the gentleness of their own natures. (The acceptance of the beauty and strength of their being is a key to helping anyone bring out the beauty in it.)

I am forever grateful to a God that provided me with the perfect guidebook to knowing who I am, if Gods asks me to be a certain way, then it is in my highest and best good. As I've embraced His divine blueprint with love and acceptance of myself, I have been able to shed the weight of anger, rage, fear, and disconnection in my life because God showed me that those things were not who I was, but were rather the worldly shields I had covered myself in because I had been hurt and was afraid.

May we all be loving, kind, nurturing, powerful women who stand firmly, resolutely and faithfully (trustingly) in the truth of who we REALLY are.
